The highly anticipated second part of Frozen arrives in theaters today.
The Walt Disney Animation Studios film takes place in Arctic Norway, where its characters Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf begin a journey to save the kingdom and discover where Elsa’s powers come from. To do this, they immerse themselves in the mysterious enchanted forest where they will show us the Sami culture and the magical northern lights. All with the representative Arctic landscapes covered in snow.
As a curiosity, it is worth noting that the Disney team has worked intensively with the Saami Council to develop a version of this language. “For all our films, research is crucial to build fantastic but believable worlds,” said producer Del Vecho.
The first part of Frozen, Frozen, released in 2013, is the second highest-grossing animated film in cinema history after The Lion King (2019). This already transported viewers to spectacular landscapes of the Scandinavian country such as the church of San Olav in Valestrand, the World Heritage district of Bryggen in the city of Bergen and even a fjord, the Sognefjord (Fjord of Dreams), the longest and deepest in Norway.
Oslo, Karasjok, Alta and the impressive Hurtigruten boat route, which covers the west and north coast of the country, are some of the scenarios that the directors, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, have chosen on this occasion.
OTHER FILMS SHOT IN NORWAY
There are numerous films that have opted for Norway as an adventure setting for their protagonists. Among them are Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Star Wars or Mission Impossible 6.
The psychological thriller Ex Machina has also left us evocative landscapes with which to travel through Norway.
